01/03/2010 - College PREP - Jacksonville, FL Reid shows as a two-way player in the OF and on the mound. He has a thin, yet projectable and athletic frame. He takes proper routes and angles in working to get behind balls as an outfielder. He plays through with momentum in the OF as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Throws currently show some carry, but he will benefit by a long toss program. At the plate, his swing path is level but gets long at times creating a pull type swing. Power numbers will increase as he learns to utilize his lower half more efficiently through the swing. On the mound, Love's fastball shows a range of 73-78 mph with arm side run. Off speed pitches flash potential to be quality pitches at the next level. He also showed solid mechanics on the mound and we like his loose and easy arm action.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
