05/27/2017 - National Tryout Plus - Salt Lake City, UT Rhett continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities with a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At the plate, he improved his power potential through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive approach. He makes consistent contact with power showing best to the pull side. Power will continue to increase as he works to utilize his lower half more efficiently. At 1B, defensive abilities have improved as he displays proper footwork around the bag. Glove action is clean but needs to present more out front. He shows off his athletic abilities on his feeds of the double play. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 70-72 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with sinking action. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

05/28/2016 - College PREP - Salt Lake City, UT Rhett is a lean RHP/1B who will graduate in 2019. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 72-73 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup but needs to develop more movement on pitch. Off speed stuff show potential as being quality pitches. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Getting on a long toss program will help to increase arm strength which will aid in his development on the mound.At 1B, feet are active as he displays proper footwork around the bag and recovers well. He display clean hands and is an accurate thrower. Presenting his glove more out in front will help to avoid getting the ‘in between' hop. Continuing to increase foot quickness will aid in improving range. At the plate, he shows a squared / balanced setup. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact, mainly to the pull side. Power will increase as he works to utilize his lower half more efficiently. With 3 years to further develop, Rhett has abilities with time and room to improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
