07/18/2017 - College PREP - Highland Park (DFW), TX Rhett is a hardworking right-handed pitching prospect who will graduate in 2019. On the mound, Rhett has a balanced delivery throwing from a high 3/4 arm slot. He has a restricted arm action and can benefit from extending through his release. Rhett does a nice job staying square to home plate with a controlled landing. He locates all three pitches and effectively changes speeds. His fastball has good arm side run at 74-76 MPH. His curveball has an 11-5 o'clock break and his changeup is deceptive with run movement. Overall, Rhett is a projectable young prospect who has potential to take his game to the next level with development.

08/08/2016 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 Rhett is a lean RHP/2B who will graduate in 2019. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 73-75 mph with sinking action. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. Getting on a long toss program will help to increase arm strength which will aid in his development on the mound. At 2B, he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are active in displaying proper footwork as he works to square ground balls up, displaying clean hands in making the plays. He shows off his athletic abilities on his feeds of the double play. Glove action is soft / sure but will benefit by presenting more out front. For defensive grade to continue to improve, he needs to increase foot quickness. Throws are accurate with carry across the diamond. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He works to keep hands inside the ball, utilizing all fields. Power will continue to improve as he works to utilize his lower half more aggressively. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be. With 3 years to further develop, Rhett has abilities with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
