08/23/2020 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Stockton (Sacramento), CA Richard is a talented/projectable RHP who pounds the zone with strikes. He works to a controlled balance point, has smooth separation and fires from a clean/loose arm action. He gets strong glove-side lead and stays directional toward the dish. FB ranges from 72-77 mph and works on a downhill plane. Breaking ball shows 11/5 shape with gradual break. Changeup has arm side run and compliments his FB well. He commands the zone and can spot up on all 3-pitches. At the plate, he shows an open setup. Hands are quick (80 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. Richard is a skilled (2023 grad) RHP who will toe the rubber and compete.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
