06/24/2010 - Omaha Pro Select Training and Tournament - Week 2 Ricky is a young (2013) two-way player in the OF plus at 2B with a small, athletic body that shows projection as he continues to physically mature. Foot speed is above average as indicated by his 7.16 60 time. He utilizes his quick athletic feet aggressively well in his defensive play in taking solid routes / angles in tracking down balls in the OF, displaying range. At 2B, feet are active in coming to get the baseball. Arm strength shows carry with accuracy but will benefit by getting on a long toss program. Offensively, he shows a solid base with a direct path to the baseball but has some mechanical flaws that are hindering him from reaching his full potential with grades improving with instruction and adjustments. Power numbers will increase as more overall body strength is gained. With 3 years to further develop, Ricky has a lot of potential with time and room to improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
