01/15/2010 - Under Armour Pre-Season All-America - 2010 Ricky participated in the UA Preseason All-America as a 3B/1B. He currently projects best at 2B due to his arm strength at this time. Ricky fields the baseball out in front of his body and throws accurately to his target. He works through the ball well and shows a solid backhand. Ricky improved his 60 time from 7.50 to 7.25 and his home to 1st time from 4.75 to 4.53. More confidence fielding, and added arm strength will help Ricky further improve his INF skills. At the plate, Ricky centers the ball well and is mostly a pull side hitter. He shows good bat speed at the plate and he gets down the line very well. Ricky is aggressive on the base paths, and can steal bases. Hitting can further improve with a less shouldery swing and being more direct to the baseball.

01/03/2010 - College PREP - San Antonio, TX Ricardo is a talented, Sr., that plays 3B/1B and hits from the left side. He works well around the bag, his shows a "clean glove," and his arm is strong. Ricardo has good hands, arm action, and his throws have good carry to them. He showed better at the more difficult 3B position but has the ability to be a threat at 1B as well, at the next level. Ricardo's INF skills can improve if he can lighten his feet and avoid fielding the ball too deep. Offensively, Ricardo has good balance, bat speed, and barrel accuracy. He has balance throughout his swing, and he gets proper extension to and through the baseball. Ricardo makes good use of his lower 1/2, and could improve already solid numbers by leveling off his swing a bit.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
