01/18/2013 - Baseball Factory National Spring Training at Pirate City Ricky is a 1B with a tall and solid build and strong lower 1/2. He showed us some improvements when compared to his first workout with us back in November. Defensively, he is a big target, he works around groundballs and gets into a square fielding position. He makes the plays and delivers accurate throws across the diamond. Looser actions and working to field the ball out in front will help to improve defensive abilities. As a hitter, Terrell shows strength as he gets into a solid hitting position and gets the barrel through the zone. He shows some pop off of his bat through a level/short/quick bat path. More aggressiveness by attacking the first pitch fastball will help to improve his success at the plate during game situations. Currently, his bat is ahead of his defense. Developing quicker actions and more urgency defensively will help him to continue to improve, especially since he is only a 2015 graduate.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
