09/17/2014 - Under Armour Fall Classic, powered by Baseball Factory's Team One Riley is a solid two-way player - RHP/3B that showed solid ability at the Under Armour Fall Classic powered by Baseball Factory's Team One. Defensively, he made plays by working around the ball and positioned himself properly per hitter and situation. Offensively, he had a balanced setup, generated decent bat speed to hit and had good strike zone awareness. Implementing a load and keeping his front side closed will improve hard hit contact and his ability to hit the outside pitch. On the mound, he competed for 6 innings with good presence and worked through early adversity showing positive adjustments. All in all - Riley is a promising player that has good energy and leadership tendencies.

08/10/2014 - College PREP - Burlington, VT Riley is a solid, athletic RHP that will graduate in 2015. Delivery is repeatable as he uses his lower half well and allows his arm action to work long and well to the plate through a high 3/4 arm slot. Fastball shows a range of 77-81 mph on a slight downhill plane. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with late break and good bite. He maintains arm speed on his changeup, showing a feel for with slight sink. Off speed stuff show potential as being quality pitches that will get outs at the next level. Command / control are solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
