01/15/2010 - Vero Beach Spring Training & Competition - 2010 Hatchett improved his 60-yard dash from 7.97 to 7.70. In addition, he improved his hitting and power from near average to solid average. He featured a strong and aggressive stroke, along with power to all fields and ability to become a solid run producer. He has the ability to shorten his stroke and focus more up the middle of the field, tends to spin off and get a little pull conscious. He made nearly immediate positive improvement in his work to stay through the ball and finish his swing, this thanks to excellent aptitude - he will continue to improve no doubt. Defensively, he showed as an instinctive defender with soft hands and solid footwork. His arm action was loose and easy, and his throws had good accuracy and some carry. On the mound, he topped at 75 with his fastball and threw his improved breaking ball up to 68. His delivery was instinctive and natural, and was also sound and consistent - all of this allowed him to stay in the zone with three near average pitches. Needs to work on improving extension out front, must finish to stay more consistent. Overall, a talented player with two-way potential.

12/06/2009 - College PREP - Cedar Hill, TX Robert is young athlete that pitches and plays 1B. On the mound, he has a good mechanics and a smooth delivery. Robert's CH has good feel, and some A/S run. With further growth, maturity, and effort, Robert will have the ability to throw the baseball harder. At 1B, Robert has good footwork, and a soft glove. He is consistent in making the plays and could improve with quicker feet and more aggressiveness. At the plate, Robert has good balance and bat speed. He is able to keep his eyes to the baseball, and works the ball to all fields nicely. Offensive numbers should improve with added strength, and a working toward a more proper load.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
