04/02/2017 - National Tryout Plus - Bel Air (Baltimore), MD Robert has really improved his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. Delivery is sound / repeatable allowing his arm action to work free to the plate. Arm strength has improved, as he threw his top velocity to date at 74 mph. Fastball showed a range of 69-74 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with arm side run but throws too hard, resembling fastball velocities. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he has improved as well, now displaying well above average hitting abilities with outstanding power potential. Hands are quick (84 mph exit velocity) and work to and through an aggressive swing path, creating extension. He has strength in his swing and utilizes his strong lower half well through the swing. Barrel accuracy is a plus with baseball exploding off the bat when centered with gap-to-gap pop.

07/24/2015 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 Robert is a 1B/RHP with a strong work ethic. Defensively, he makes the routine play and is not afraid to get dirty. He does a great job of tracking the ball into his glove and will see improvement by working on footwork around the bag and starting from the ground up to pick balls. On the mound, Robert showcased a good pitchers body with a feel for his off speed. Using his lower 1/2 more and learning to command his FB will allow Robert to pound the zone more frequently and get hitters out easier. Offensively, Robert makes good, solid contact with signs of pull side pop. Robert will improve his hitting abilities by getting more rhythm within his swing and staying strong through his lower half. Overall, Ryan worked hard and was very respectful towards his teammates and coaches.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
