  • 1B/LHPPosition Projection

09/04/2020 - MS All-Region Tournament Robert is a LHP/1B prospect who showcased his skills during the All-Region Tournament. On the mound, Robert works with a loose arm and extends through his release well. His fastball tops out at 58mph with arm side run. Long tossing to build up his arm strength can help Robert improve his pitch velocity. In the field, Robert gets into a square position and fields the ball out in front of his body. He throws from a 3/4 angle and keeps his throws consistent to his target. Robert can make more plays by increasing his lateral range. At the plate, this LHH sets up in an open stance and takes his stride on time. He is fluid getting into his load and produces solid contact. Taking a more level swing path can help Robert barrel up more baseballs. With five more years to develop, Robert has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

06/14/2020 - Official Player Development Membership - Visalia, CA Robert is a LHP prospect who continues to showcase his skills on the field. On the mound, Robert gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He extends through his release and finishes with his chest over his front knee. Robert shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 56mph. He shows great control with his cutter. Changeup sits from 48-50mph. Loosening his arm action can help Robert improve as a pitcher. At the plate, this LHH sets up in a square stance and takes a short stride. He gets back into his load well and produces solid contact to all fields. Robert can improve as a hitter by maintaining center balance throughout his swing. With five more years to develop, Robert has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

01/17/2020 - Baseball Factory Spring Training in Arizona (Ages 12-14) Robert continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. At 1B, he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are active as he shows proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Hands are clean and present well out front. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. At the plate, he shows a tall, squared setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will continue to increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 61 mph. Breaking ball displays 2/8 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup but throws too hard, resembling fastball. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a great personality, is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

09/08/2019 - Interactive Video Program - Fresno, CA Robert is a young, 2-way player who plays 1st base and LHP. Defensively, Robert has active feet, he fields aggressively, and his hands are firm. He reads well off the bat, his exchange is clean, and he throws with momentum and a loose arm to his target. On the mound, this LHP has a compact motion and a clean arm circle. He separates his hands on time, lands with good direction toward home, and finishes completely. Offensively, Robert has a tall stance, good balance, and he hits line drives. He makes consistent contact and uses some lower body. Abilities can further improve with work on the following.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
