08/09/2010 - College PREP - Trenton, NJ Robert continues to show solid offensive and defensive skills and did so during his time at Team One Northeast. He is an athletic, hustle type Catcher with good skills. Robert has good actions behind the plate, soft hands, and he blocks and receives the ball very well. He is quick to his feet, gets rid of the ball quickly, and throws accurately and efficiently to his target. Added long toss will only help defensive grades further improve. Offensively, Robert keeps his head on the ball, he has a level swing path, and good barrel recognition. He has good bat speed and has pop in his bat. Robert will be a solid offensive and defensive Catcher at the next level.

06/27/2010 - Team One South 2010 Robert is a solid catcher with good skills. He lowered his 60 time from 7.34 to 7.16 during his time at Team One. Defensively, Robert has good footwork and a clean glove. He blocks and receives well, has a good exchange, and he gains ground when throwing to 2nd base. Added arm strength will only help defensive numbers get even better. At the plate, Robert has a quiet approach and he centers the ball well on the barrel of the bat. He has good balance and bat speed, and shows to be a very polished hitter. Robert works the ball to all fields, and with more live hands hitting can get even better.

06/06/2010 - Exclusive Filming Shoot - MD 1 Robert continues to improve each time we see him. He added 20+ pounds of muscle since we last saw him, works very hard and is very coachable. His pop times were the best we have seen (1.93-2.09). He improved his exchange and is much quicker with added arm strength. Receives quiet and works around the ball well. Blocking is outstanding with a quick recovery showing his athleticism. His bat may be his best tool. Has a balanced approach, very clean and repeatable. Holds the ground through his swing and has great extension. He will be a great addition to a college program.

01/15/2010 - Under Armour Pre-Season All-America - 2010 Robert participated in the UA Preseason All-America and showed similar skills as he did back at Team One 2009. He is a young, athletic Catcher with a solid stance. Robert tracks the baseball well, looks it in, and keeps a firm wrist. He centers the ball well on his body when blocking, and deadens it softly. Robert moves well laterally, and with a wider base, and more leg drive, solid defensive numbers can become even better. Offensively, Robert has good balance and bat speed. He has a quiet approach, compact swing, and is direct to the ball. He can spray the ball to all fields, and with a sooner load, hitting grades could continue to improve.

07/25/2009 - Team One North 2009 Robert continues to show steady improvement as a baseball player, as shown by improved 60-time. At the plate, good approach each time with short level stroke allowed him to center balls and used all fields. As his strength improves, bat speed and power will increase. Behind the plate, quick feet allowed him to get in good throwing position. Stayed in line with quick exchange allowed him to make accurate throws. Stringent long toss program will improve velocity. Excellent job of blocking balls. Fell forward, took good angles which allowed him to center and deaden balls. Showed low target with ability to get around ball allowed him to stick pitches.

07/21/2009 - E-ACR - Maryland 5 Robert worked hard and was very coachable, showed the ability to make adjustments as instructed. Behind the plate, got into good throwing position on throws to 2B because of his quick feet. Showed quick exchange with loose arm action. At times, tries to be too quick even though he is quick enough. Stringent long toss program will increase velocity. While receiving, showed good low target with the ability to stick all pitches. Had limited body sway. He had textbook mechanics when blocking. Took very good angles to center and block balls. Covers all daylight and had good spine angle while deadening all balls in dirt. At the plate, good quiet load with quick hands led to good bat speed. Showed the ability to repeat his swing and had proper head position throughout. Good balance allowed him to have excellent barrel accuracy while he hit all balls between left-center to right-center.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
