Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • 3B/RHPPosition Projection

01/15/2010 - Under Armour Pre-Season All-America - 2010 Rocamora improved foot speed as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a 7.50 runner. Defensive grades continue to improve as his hands and feet work well together in getting rid of the baseball quickly. Glove action is clean, soft, and sure in making all the plays. Feet are active and aggressive in playing through the baseball as he displays range. Offensively, Robert continues to shine at the plate as he shows plus bat speed through a solid feel for the barrel. He creates backspin as the baseball explodes off his bat. Hands work inside as he uses the entire field through an aggressive approach.

10/14/2009 - Arizona Senior Fall Classic - 2009 Rocamora continues to show steady improvements in his baseball abilities. Defensive grades have improved to near above average as his hands and feet work well together through the fielding and throwing process. He will benefit by getting on a speed / agility program to improve foot quickness for the next level. At the plate, Robert shows a solid, sound approach that allows his hands to work directly and quickly to the baseball, generating bat speed. He shows a solid feel for the barrel with plus power potential as he was 4 for 8 with a 2B at the event. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 76-78 mph and has improved breaking ball to near above average.

09/13/2009 - College PREP - Azusa, CA Robbie has improved in several areas since we last saw him. His bat is his strength where is well above avg with hitting and raw power. He shows excellent bat speed, balance, barrel accuracy and his lower half is solid as well. He has a gap to gap approach and lets the ball travel into the hitting zone where he is strong. At 3B he shows excellent accuracy and solid carry with a good exchange/release. He shows the ability to adjust well to bad hops and has clean, relaxed hands. He can still get better with his backhand and throwing action on slow rollers. Rocamora also showed some improvement on the mound, improving his off speed pitches and overall delivery. He is a definite prospect in the INF as his bat will surely finds its way into the middle of a lineup.

07/29/2009 - Under Armour Southwest Regional Tournament - 2009 Robert is a two-way player at 3B and on the mound with heavy frame. Currently, he projects best at 3B for the next level. Foot speed is below average and he must get on a speed / agility program to improve foot quickness for the next level. Feet are active but need to be more aggressive in coming to get and play through ground balls. Glove action is soft and sure but deep due to body stopping as he breaks down into the fielding position. He is solid on slow rollers as he plays through and gets rid of the baseball quickly. Defensive abilities are solid average and more suited for 1B. Arm strength is slightly above average and he needs to get on a strict long toss program to aid in further developing more arm strength, raising velocities. At the plate, hitting abilities are above average with near above average power through a balanced approach. He loads well, stays back, and transfers weight properly through the swing. He works to keep hands inside the ball, utilizing all fields as he shows a feel for the barrel. He was 4 for 13 with a double at the event. On the mound , fastball shows a range of 75-78 mph with cutting action. Breaking ball is best off speed pitch showing solid average while displaying downward shape with gradual break. Changeup shows an average feel for with small run. He attacks hitters as he changes speed well and throws strikes with all his pitches. Robert has potential with plus abilities at the plate and will catch the eyes of the collegiate coaches.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
