01/30/2022 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Dallas, TX Romel continues to show as a prospect with his baseball abilities. In the field, feet are active as he works to squared balls up and plays through with his body. He gets into an athletic position and fields the ball out in front with soft hands. He makes a clean exchange and gains momentum well on his throws, with carry (86 mph velocity) to his target. At the plate, he displays well above average hitting abilities with outstanding power potential. He is on time getting into a simple load and drives through well with his lower half. He takes a smooth swing with fast bat speed (88 mph exit velocity), leading to consistent line drives. On the mound, Romel gathers over the rubber and works with a loose arm. He stays inline towards the plate and finishes with his chest over his front knee. He shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 79 mph with sinking action. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with sink but throws too hard, resembling fastball. Knuckleball shows good dancing action with sink. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Overall, Romel is a solid prospect who has the potential to further develop his skills on the field.

05/01/2021 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Dallas, TX Romel is an athletic 3B who has a promising future on the diamond. At 3B, defensive abilities are solid as he displays smooth / athletic actions. Feet are active as he works around balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is clean but needs to present more out front. He moves well laterally with range improving as he increases foot quickness. Throws are accurate with carry (87 mph velocity) across the diamond. At the plate, he continues to shine, through an open setup. Hands are quick (81 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach with power showing best to the pull side. With 3 years to further to develop, Romel has a lot of potential and will get looks from the collegiate coaches as he continues to progress his game.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
