12/27/2023 - Baseball Factory Recruiting Classic Rory is a tall/lean 2025 1B/LHP who showcased his talents at the BF Recruiting Classic. At 1B, he has a good pre-pitch step and takes good angles to his glove side. He throws from a high ¾ arm slot, with a loose arm action, and accurate throws around the infield. He had a raw arm velocity of 79. At the plate, he has a tall stance and a simple load. Rory gets great extension and has good bat speed. He did a great job spraying the ball around the field and had an exit velo of 72 mph. On the mound, he had a solid 3-pitch mix. His fastball had good sink and sat 70-71 mph, his slider had some good break sitting at 63-64 mph, and his change up had good run. Rory has good balance and a loose arm action. His changeup has good upside and he was consistently able to throw it for a strike. He had great presence on the mound. During the game, he picked up a single and an RBI at the plate. We foresee that Dayton will continue to catch the eyes of scouts both on the mound and at the plate.

11/05/2023 - National Showcase - Stockton, CA Rory is a LHP who will graduate in 2025. Tall frame lean build with strength present and room to add throughout. On the mound, he has long levers and a projectable frame. Has a deceptive delivery and does a good job of "hiding" the ball. He challenges hitters with a FB that sits 67-69mph with plus command, a 2/8 shaped breaking ball that flashes some depth, and a changeup that he throws with FB arm speed. As he continues to develop and mature, we see him having a bright future on the baseball field.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
