10/25/2009 - College PREP - North Charleston, SC Ross is an athletic 2-way player both at SS and on the hill. Ross presents his glove well, showed good range, and circles the ball well; he as a good idea of the SS position. Increasing his foot speed and agility will only make him more of a threat up the middle. On the mound, Ross has good direction toward the plate and good glove side lead. His CB showed best with good 11-5 shape and tight spin. Ross' stock on the mound could rise if he can improve arm strength with a long toss program and work to use more lower 1/2. He currently projects better at SS. At the plate, he displayed quick hands, a level swing, and good bat speed. He centers the ball on the barrel well and was able to hit to all fields.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
