07/17/2018 - National Tryout Plus - Trenton, NJ RJ showed best hitting numbers to date during his last workout with The Factory. He is a solid INF who hits from the left side. Defensively, RJ has active feet, agile movements, and he fields in an athletic position. He has good pre-pitch actions, a clean release, and throws with momentum and accuracy to his target. Offensively, RJ has good bat speed and power, solid balance, and a rhythmic swing. He can spray to all fields and makes hard/consistent contact.

12/27/2017 - Under Armour Baseball Factory Recruiting Classic (Ages 14-18) RJ is a solid, athletic 3B who has a promising future on the diamond. At the plate is where he shows best, displaying outstanding power potential through an athletic setup. Hands are quick (86 mph exit velocity) and work through a compact swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields. Barrel accuracy is a plus and he utilizes his lower half well with gap-to-gap pop. At the event, he was 4 for 8. At 3B, feet are active but needs to attack and play through balls more with his body. Glove action is clean and presents well out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and plays the game hard. With 2 years to further develop, RJ has potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
