11/13/2014 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition at Pirate City Ryan is a versatile player who continues to improve his skills on the diamond. On the bump, this LHP works through a repeatable delivery with smooth mechanics. He keeps his eyes on the target, maintains level shoulders and works in-line toward the dish. He finishes well and gets his chest out over his frontside. He mixes his looks and holds runner well. More glove side lead and lower 1/2 drive will help to improve effectiveness on the mound. Offensively, Boyd shows a balanced approach with a solid base. Swing path is level to and through the zone. He has some pop off of his barrel and uses the whole field. Developing more rhythm to load will help to improve timing and increase contact consistency. At 1B, he hustles into position behind the ground ball. He is a good target for his fellow infielders and works hard to pick throws out of the dirt. Getting on a footwork/agility program will aid in his development at 1B. Ryan is a respectful player (only a 2020 grad) who still has a lot of time to build his skill-set.
