09/15/2018 - 2018 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's Futures East Ryan is an impressive LHP with both present stuff and a ton of projectability. He has a balanced, repeatable delivery and a loose, easy arm swing that leads to consistent quality stuff. HIs fastball lived in the upper 80s and touched as high as 91 with good finish to it in his outing at the UA BF Futures event. He's not afraid to throw that fastball inside to RHHs, and he was aggressive with that pitch throughout. His secondary offerings are led by a change that is an outstanding pitch. It looks like his fastball out of the hand and has deception and late movement along with an excellent velocity differential. It is both a roll-over and swing-and-miss pitch. Ryan also throws a curve that has 2-plane break with good shape and some bite. All three pitches were thrown for strikes and it's easy to envision a big-time starting pitcher when you watch Ryan throw.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
