04/26/2015 - College PREP - Union City, CA Ryan is a very talented R/R backstop who has a solid build. With the bat, this righty shows a closed stance with good balance. He has fluid rhythm to load and waits back for his pitch. Swing path is level and quick as he whips the barrel quickly and connects with pop. He hits the ball where it's pitched with the ability to drive it to all parts of the field. Behind the dish, he sits in well with flexion and tracks the pitches into his mitt. He has quick footwork, working around pitches in the dirt and centering them off of his chest. On throws down to 2B he has a quick exchange and gains ground with pop times at an impressive 1.90. Runners will not want to test his arm. Ryan has a solid all-around skill-set that will allow him to play at a high level.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
