01/15/2021 - 2021 Baseball Factory Pre-Season All-America Tournament (FL) Ryan continues to show as a prospect on the diamond. At 3B, defensive abilities are solid as he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are active as he attacks balls and plays through well with his body. Glove action is clean and presents well out front. At the plate, he continues to shine, displaying outstanding hitting abilities with excellent power potential through an athletic setup. Hands are quick (87 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap to gap pop. On the mound, his righty has a 2 pitch arsenal in which to keep hitters guessing. Fastball shows a range of 82-85 mph with tailing action. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with late / sharp break. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches, working both sides of the plate. This 2023 grad is fun to watch and is one to keep an eye on over the next couple of years.

12/06/2020 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Lynwood (Chicago), IL Ryan continues to show as a prospect on the diamond with improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a 7.40 runner. At 3B, feet are active as he works around balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is soft and presents well out front, working from the ground up. He moves well laterally with range improving as he increases foot quickness. Throws are accurate with carry (87 mph velocity) across the diamond. At the plate, he continues to shine, displaying well above average hitting abilities with outstanding power potential through a crouched setup. Hands are quick (87 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap to gap pop. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 84 mph. Fastball shows a range of 83-84 mph with cutting action. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with downward break. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with cutting action.

01/17/2020 - 2020 Baseball Factory All-America Pre-Season Rookie Tournament Ryan is a coachable 3B/RHP prospect who continued to showcase his skills during the All-America Pre-Season Rookie Tournament. In the field, Ryan takes a good first step and is efficient moving to the ball. He gets into an athletic position and fields the ball out in front with soft hands. He makes a clean exchange and gains momentum well on his throws, keeping them accurate through his target. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an open stance and takes a square stride. He is on time getting into a simple load and drives through well with his lower half. He takes a smooth swing with fast bat speed, leading to consistent line drives. On the mound, Ryan gathers over the rubber and works with a loose arm. He stays inline towards the plate and finishes with his chest over his front knee. Ryan shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 83mph with late arm side run. Breaking ball sits from 62-64mph with sharp 11-5 break. Changeup sits at 62mph with sinking action as he throws with deceptive arm speed. Overall, Ryan is a solid prospect who has the potential to further develop his skills on the field.

10/16/2019 - Arizona Freshman Fall Classic Ryan continues to show as a prospect on the diamond with improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At 3B, defensive abilities are now solid skills as he displays smooth / clean actions. Feet are active as attacks balls and plays through well with his body. Glove action is soft / sure and presents well out front. At the plate, hitting / power potential have improved through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and works through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields and has strength in his swing with gap-to-gap pop. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 78 mph. Fastball shows good arm side run. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with arm side run. Stock on the mound will increase as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a great personality, is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

01/18/2019 - 2019 Baseball Factory All-America Pre-Season Rookie Tournament Ryan is an athletic and talented 2023 2-way prospect. At the hot corner, Ryan is on time with his pre-step, he anticipates the ball off the bat, and he presents a low/early glove. He plays through his back hand and makes strong throws from the 5-6 hole. He does a good job on slow rollers and can make off balance throws with accuracy. On double plays, he has efficient footwork and throws from multiple arm angles. At the plate, Ryan starts in an athletic stance, loads his hands back into the drive position, and gets his front foot down on time. He gets the barrel flat to the ball and has a gap to gap approach. On the bump, Ryan shows confidence in his pitches and is aggressive in the zone. He finds a balance point over the back leg, separates on time, and gets extension over the front side. He sinks his fastball and has an 11-5 break on his curveball. Ryan is eager to learn and we hope to see his progress in the future.

12/27/2018 - Baseball Factory Winter Classic - Session 2 (Ages 12-14) Ryan continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. At 3B, defensive abilities have improved as he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are active as he works to square balls up and plays through with his body. Glove action is soft / clean and presents well out front. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. At the plate, hitting / power potential has improved through a tall, balanced setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He works to keep hands inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. At the event, he had a tremendous week as he was 6 for 9. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable, works hard to be the best player he can be, and plays with a lot of energy. Ryan has a tremendous upside and will get looks from the collegiate coaches as he continues to progress his game.

08/26/2018 - Interactive Video Program - Glendale (Milwaukee), WI Ryan is a strong, solid, 2-way player who plays 3B and RHP. Defensively, Ryan has good pre-pitch actions, active feet, and he fields in rhythm. He keeps the ball in front of his body, has a clean exchange, and throws with momentum and accuracy across the diamond. On the mound, Ryan has a clean arm action, he stands over the rubber well balanced, and he keeps his eyes on target throughout. Offensively, Ryan has a square set-up, good balance, and he swings aggressively. He has good feel for the barrel, flashes some bat speed, and he hits with strength to the pull side. Ryan can improve overall skills with work on the following.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
