01/16/2023 - National Showcase - Portland, OR Ryan is a solid catching prospect in the 2027 class. Behind the plate, he has active feet and demonstrates agile movements. He presents his glove well and his hands are soft and quiet. His exchanges are quick and clean and he releases from a short over-the-top release (2.4 pop). He can work to sink his hips more to help stay under the low pitch. At the plate, he begins with an open stance and is on-time with his stride. His timing is smooth and he creates solid contact. He stays through the ball with a direct path and shows the ability to hit to all fields. Overall, Ryan has a bright future and scouts are eager to see his development at upcoming events.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
