11/17/2019 - College PREP - Marlborough (Boston), MA Ryan is a long, lean, 2-way player who catches and plays 1st base. Behind the plate, Ryan has active feet, firm hands, and he centers the ball well. He tracks to his glove, his exchange is clean, and he throws with pop times as low as 2.68 seconds to 2nd base. A more square set-up, looser arm action, and quicker release will help catching skills get better. At 1B, Ryan has efficient footwork, good energy, and solid bag awareness. He covers some ground, his exchange is clean, and he throws with momentum to his target. If Ryan can soften his glove, field in a more square position, and add arm strength, defensive skills can further improve. Offensively, Ryan has a crouched stance, a square stride, and good balance. He has good bat speed, a middle of the field approach, and he can spray the ball to all fields. Better weight transfer, a shorter swing path, and more lower body will help hitting numbers get better.
