08/05/2013 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 Ryan showed in the OF and on the mound for the first time. He utilizes his feet well in taking proper routes / angles in tracking down balls and plays through ground balls well. For defensive grade to continue to improve, he needs to work to get behind balls and play through with momentum to his target. Throws are accurate with life as he gets rid of the baseball quickly but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact, mainly to the pull side. For hitting grade to continue to improve, he needs to work to keep hands inside the ball to utilize all fields. Power numbers will continue to improve as he learns to load and use his lower half more. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 71-74 mph with cutting action. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with slight break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup, showing a feel for. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as more arm strength is gained. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a great attitude and plays hard.
