12/27/2012 - Pirate City Christmas Camp and Tournament Ryan is a 2-way player who currently projects best on the mound as a LHP, though his versatility is a plus. He has a balanced, repeatable delivery on the mound that is in-line and leads to very good control of all of his pitches. He works fast and throws strikes keeping his defense engaged. He has a confident presence on the mound that carries over to his teammates. He also has a good feel for holding runners and controls the running game. Ryan's fastball has natural run to it and topped at 76 mph while his breaking ball was an effective out-pitch for him. His developing change shows promise and will complete his three pitch mix well. He can work on getting separation a little sooner and making sure he does not fall off towards 3B when he finishes his pitches. Ryan also played a solid 1B showing a good arm. He can work on lateral movement and improving his range. Ryan also swung the bat well from the left side during the event. He makes consistent contact and sprays the ball to all fields. He can work on keeping his hands and weight back to help with timing. Overall, this 2014 grad should see the most interest as a LHP over the next two years.
