04/05/2024 - The Preseason All-Ripken Games - Myrtle Beach Ryder did a little bit of everything for his Valor squad at the PreSeason All-Ripken Games. He swung the bat well throughout the event, including 2 doubles, 4 singles and a few hard hit outs. His gap-to-gap approach is a good one and his lower body and upper body work in sync well. He has a big hand movement to start his swing that sometimes throws off the timing of his swing, but when he is in position to hit on-time the results are very good. Defensively Ryder is an athletic 3B with sure hands and a strong arm across the diamond to finish plays. He made an excellent, clutch play at 3B on a slow roller in the Championship to get his team out of the inning. On the mound Ryder has good direction and an effective, repeatable delivery. His fastball/curveball combination kept hitters off balance as he attacked the strike zone with some velocity (fastball up to 60 mph). Overall, this was a good showing from Ryder and we look forward to seeing him further develop over the next several years.
