11/10/2024 - National Showcase - Marlborough (Boston), MA Ryne, a left-handed pitcher and outfielder from Simsbury, CT, is in the 2029 graduating class with a promising skill set. In the outfield, Ryne demonstrates excellent reads off the bat, working efficiently to center the baseball. He uses active footwork and maintains a square fielding position, ensuring accurate throws from a three-quarter arm slot into the infield. On the mound, Ryne has a confident demeanor and shows a smooth, loose arm action. He achieves a good hip hinge and consistently lands square to his target, delivering with solid tempo. His pitch repertoire includes a fastball, curveball, and change-up, all of which he commands well to keep hitters off balance. As a right-handed hitter, Ryne separates his hands effectively and takes a square stride. He tracks pitches well, demonstrating the ability to hit the ball to all fields, with an exit velocity of up to 70 mph during batting practice. With five more years of growth and continued development ahead of him, Ryne has the potential to refine his skills and make significant strides in all areas of his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
