07/08/2012 - Select Training at the All-Star Game (Pre HS) Sage Flores is a 2016 graduate who plays shortstop and also pitches. In the infield Sage has an athletic set up and has sure hands. He has fluid footwork and takes good angles to the ball. He has agile range and is quick around the bag with his feeds and pivots. At the plate Sage has an athletic set up. He keeps his hands back and has a smooth load with a centered stride. He uses his lower half well and has fast bat speed that allows him to make consistent hard contact. On the mound Sage has a good fastball with a natural cut action. He is athletic on the mound and shows a good mound presence. Sage gets to a great balance point and is able to repeat his delivery with each pitch. Overall, Sage has very good fundamentals that allows him to be consistent in the field and will only get better with more experience.

12/27/2011 - Vero Beach Christmas Camp and Tournament Sage is a solid and athletic, 2016 graduate who is a SS/RHP. In the infield, he has soft/sure hands, a quick exchange, and fluid footwork. He has skills fielding the ball laterally as well as on the run. He gets into an athletic fielding position, he fields out front, and his feeds/pivots are quick/efficient. Sage also showed very good leadership qualities at the event. At the plate, he has an athletic setup, a smooth load, and a short/square stride. He has centered balance, he gets his lower half through, and he makes consistent contact with a good line drive approach. For hitting abilities to improve he needs to adjust his swing path to be on-plane and try to avoid dropping his hands. Sage is a very coachable kid who is a gamer, he possesses all the ability to be a stand-out player if he makes the recommended adjustments.

11/19/2011 - Interactive Video Program - Houston, TX Sage is a young, solid and athletic SS who is a good all-around player. Defensively, he displays a low and athletic fielding position, he has good range and quick feet. He has soft hands and a quick/clean exchange. He fields the ball out front and turns the DP quickly. Offensively, Sage is a switch hitter, showing equally as well from both sides of the plate. He shows a square and tall setup, solid load and short stride. He has good balance, makes square contact, and is a line-drive type hitter. His overall abilities can improve with work on the following.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
