08/04/2014 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 Sam continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a 7.38 runner. At the plate, hitting grade has improved, now showing well above average through an athletic setup. Hands are quick, generating bat speed through a level swing path. He has strength in his swing shows a feel for the barrel and makes consistent contact, mainly to the pull side. Hitting grade will continue to improve as he works to keep hands inside the ball to utilize all fields. At the event, he was 4 for 10. Behind the plate, pop time showed in the 2.15 range with accuracy / carry on his throws as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Receiving / blocking tools show as playable tools at the next level. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable, works hard to be the best he can be, and displays solid leadership behind the plate.
