07/26/2010 - College PREP - Cleveland, OH Sam is a 3B with a short, large frame that shows projection as he continues to polish, firming up. Feet are active in coming to get but needs to play through ground ball more with his body. Hands are soft, clean, and sure displaying a plus glove action as he presents out front. Throws show accuracy but needs to get on a long toss program to further develop more arm strength and carry. Offensively, Izzi shows a solid, athletic setup that allows his hands to work directly to the baseball through a level swing path. He shows strength in his swing with baseball jumping off his bat when centered. Stride foot is late causing his to rush his approach as he needs to load more, getting stride foot down sooner to work on time. Sam has abilities with a lot of room to improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
