08/05/2013 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 Sam continues to show steady play in baseball abilities in the OF and at 2B. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date but will benefit by continuing to work to improve foot quickness. He utilizes his feet well in taking proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He reads balls well off the bat and takes proper first step with defensive grade improving as he works to get behind balls, playing through well with momentum to his target. At 2B, feet are active as he works to square balls up, displaying soft / clean hands. Defensive grade will continue to improve as he presents hands more out front and play through balls with his body. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows a balanced setup with rhythm. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact through an aggressive approach. For hitting grade to continue to improve, he needs to work to get stride foot down sooner to work on time. Power numbers will continue to improve as he learns to load and use his lower half more. He is patient and displays a solid eye at the plate as he drew 4 BB at the event. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a great attitude and plays hard.
