01/19/2024 - 2024 Baseball Factory Rookie Pre-Season All-America Tournament Sam is a 2027 SS/OF out of Cedar Rapids, IA who showcased his talents at the BF Rookie Pre-Season All-America Tournament. At SS, he starts from an athletic position always anticipating the ball. He fields out front and has a quick and 2-hand exchange. He throws from multiple arm slots with good accuracy on his throws. At the plate, this right-handed hitter starts from a square stance and has a comfortable hand slot. He has a soft but effective stride. Sam has good connection and produced a lot of line drives during batting practice. With several years left of high school baseball, we anticipate Sam to continue to grow on the field as he gets stronger.

05/21/2023 - National Showcase - Council Bluffs (Omaha), IA Sam is a 2027 SS prospect from Cedar Rapids, IA. In the field, he does a great job pre-pitch of getting in a ready position and shows off efficient feet that helps him center the baseball. He gets in a low, squared fielding position and fields the ball out in front. His exchange is clean and he has a short arm action while making consistent throws across the diamond. He has a lot of energy in the field and does a great job of sticking the baseball. At the plate, he starts in an athletic stance and gets a good load. His head stays quiet throughout and he makes consistent contact. Works hard to maintain a short swing and keep a level bat path. We are excited to see Sam continue to develop as he begins his high school career next fall!

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
