12/27/2023 - Baseball Factory West Coast Winter Classic Sam is a gifted ft 7/120 3B/RHP in the 2028 class. He recently performed well at the West Coast Winter Classic. In the field, he plays with athletic feel and creates agile and relaxed movements. Stays in his legs well and in on time to field with excellent footwork. He can redirect the baseball with quickness and his release is in synch with his body. Arm plays at 75 velo and is accurate to his targets. On the mound, he had two solid outings with a combined 5 Ks and only one BB in 3 combined innings of work. He shows a fast arm and likes to work the bottom of the zone. He operates with a two-pitch mix from a high 3 qtr. slot. His FB sat 68-70 and has both run and sinking actions. His CB is developing nicely. It shaped 10-4 and maintain FB arm speed will provide more tilt. At the plate, he has a comfortable feel and gets into his load well. Stays inside his feet for proper balance and gains extension on his swing. Registered 3 quality at bats (2 BBs and a hard liner to LF) in game action. Overall, Sam is a solid two-way player in the 2028 class and looks to have a bright future in the game.

09/03/2023 - National Showcase - San Francisco, CA Sam is an athletic 5ft 5/115 3B/RHP in the 2028 class. Defensively, he shows great footwork pre and post pitch. Gains ground to the baseball and creates a low fielding position. Glove has feel and the ball sticks. Arm plays at 71 and is accurate to his targets. Working to field out in front and quicken his exchange will help him with fast baserunners. On the mound, he has a compact motion and a quiet head. He operates with a 3-pitch mix from a low 3qtr. slot. His FB sat 62-6 with tailing actions. His CB has 11-5 shape and was in the zone at 50-4. His CH ranged 50-3 with excellent run. At the plate, he begins with an open stance and gets into his load well. Balance stays inside his feet and uses his hips well. Flashed hard contact at 67 exit velo and line drive production. Working to keep his eyes on the barrel will help him stay square longer. Overall, Sam has excellent starting points and has the makings of becoming a great future star on the diamond.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
