04/05/2024 - The Preseason All-Ripken Games - Myrtle Beach Sam performed very well as a 2-way prospect at 3B and on the mound in Myrtle Beach. He generates some bat speed and shows the ability to make some hard contact. Better head discipline and a square stride should help to keep him on the ball longer and improve the consistency of his barrel contact. He was on base quite a bit during the All-Ripken Games thanks to good strike zone judgement and a pair of singles. Sam displayed smooth actions at 3B with sound footwork and good hands. His short arm stroke worked well to finish plays across the diamond. On the mound Sam was very good. His arm path is clean, he uses his front side well, and he has good finish to his delivery. His fastball topped at 50 mph and he had feel for a changeup as well. We look forward to seeing Sam continue to develop over the next several years.
