01/12/2018 - 2018 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Santana continues to show a tremendous future on the diamond. Barrel accuracy is a plus and he has strength in his swing with power showing best to the pull side. At 1B, he displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Hands are soft / sure and he showed the ability to pick balls out of the dirt, saving throws. Santana has the makings of a special type player and will get looks from the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities.

10/11/2017 - Arizona Senior Fall Classic Santana is a skilled 3B who plays the game the right way. He's a coachable player who is a great teammate. With the bat, this RHH displays an athletic setup with centered balance and a solid base. He gets good hand separation into a strong launch position. Swing is short/compact to and through the zone as he connects and hits line-drives. He battles at the plate and proved to be a tough out. Defensively at 3B, Santana works around the GB and into a square fielding position. He tracks the ball into a soft mitt, gathers well and gains ground towards 1B. Santana is a solid 3B who should find success in this his senior year.

03/19/2017 - College PREP - Monterey Park (Los Angeles), CA Santana is a well-rounded 3B prospect who continues to progress his game and graduates in 2018. As a right-handed hitter, Santana has a tall stance with a firm front side. He has smooth rhythm in his load and maintains direction with a short stride. Santana has a strong top hand and shows fast bat speed. He has a direct swing path and an aggressive approach. Santana has the ability to drive the ball to each gap. In the field, Santana plays with good rhythm and effective pre-pitch actions giving him a good first step. He takes effective angles to cover good ground and field the ball in a square position. He presents his glove and has a clean exchange leading into a short arm action throwing from a 3/4 slot. Santana's throws have good strength and are online across the diamond. Overall, Santana has skill on both sides of the ball and good potential to get even better.

At 3B - Santana works around the GB, presents his glove and fields the ball out in front. He makes the backhand play smoothly and has a clean exchange to throw. Offensively, this righty he remains balanced with a solid base with rhythm to load. He barrels the ball up and creates consistent/hard contact. More lower 1/2 drive will result in increased power. Santana is the type of player who gives his all every time he steps onto the field. He has a bright future ahead of him in the game.

Defensive grade has improved as well, displaying smooth / fluid actions. Hands / feet work well together through the fielding process. More pre-pitch footwork will help to improve his abilities to get to GB's to his right and left. On the bump, Santana is a strike thrower who attacks the zone. FB tops out at 68 mph as he works to stay on top. He maintains level shoulders and works in-line toward the dish. Working to a taller balance point and utilizing his lower 1/2 to drive off of the rubber will help to improve effectiveness on the bump. Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
