01/15/2021 - 2021 Baseball Factory Pre-Season All-America Tournament (TX) Sawyer is an athletic C prospect who showcased his skills during the Pre-Season All-America Tournament. Behind the plate, Sawyer shows efficient footwork and covers up well when blocking. He presents a good target to the pitcher and receives with soft hands. He throws from a 3/4 angle and works to keep his throws accurate to the 2B bag. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes a square stride. He is smooth to load and drives through well with his lower half. He stays direct through the ball with fast bat speed, leading to solid contact and gap to gap power (89mph exit velo). Overall, Sawyer is a talented prospect who has the potential to contribute at the next level.

01/17/2020 - 2020 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Sawyer is an athletic C prospect who showed well at the Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament. Behind the plate, Sawyer sits in a relaxed stance and receives with a quiet glove. He creates good angles when blocking and keeps the ball in front of him. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a tall stance and takes a square stride. He is on time getting into a simple load and drives through well with his lower half. He takes a level swing with fast bat speed, leading to loud contact and line drives. Overall, Sawyer is a talented prospect who has the potential to contribute at the next level.

06/22/2019 - Omaha National World Series - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) Sawyer continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. Behind the plate, pop times showed in the 2.02 range with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Hands are soft / sure and he sticks balls in the zone. He utilizes his body well through the blocking process, centering balls well out front. At the plate, he continues to shine through a squared setup. Hands are quick (83 mph exit velocity) and work to and through a level swing path. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap-to-gap pop. Barrel accuracy is a plus and he has strength in his swing with the baseball exploding off the bat when centered. Mental makeup is a plus as he is a team player, coachable, and plays the game hard.

02/24/2019 - National Tryout Plus - West, TX Sawyer is a solid catcher with very good skills for his age. Sawyer ran his fastest 60 to date at 7.16 seconds. He excels at the plate, showing a square set-up, good balance, and a short/square stride. He has fast bat speed, he makes hard/level contact, and he uses his lower body well. Behind the plate, Sawyer has fluid/active feet, he presents his glove well, and his hands are firm. He sits in squarely, his exchange is clean, and he throws with a short/quick arm to 2nd base. Continuing to add arm strength and accuracy will help abilities progress.

12/20/2018 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 14-18) Sawyer continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. At the plate, power potential is now well above average a squared setup. He has fluid rhythm while getting good hand separation. Hands are quick (83 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields and has strength in his swing with gap-to-gap pop. At the event, he was 3 for 9 with 2 2B. Behind the plate, feet work in line to his target through a clean transfer / exchange. Pop times showed in the 2.20 range with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program and works to get rid of the ball quicker. He shows a solid setup and presents a low target. He utilizes his body well through the blocking process and centers balls well out front. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and is a solid team player.

12/15/2018 - Texas Offensive Skills and Pitching/Catching Combined Weekend Sawyer is a coachable C prospect who worked hard on his skills during his time at the Texas Skills Weekend. Behind the plate, Sawyer sits in an athletic primary stance and receives with a firm glove. He gets into an athletic secondary stance and gains ground well when throwing. He makes a quick exchange and works to make accurate throws to 2B. He is quick to block and takes good angles to balls in the dirt. Sawyer can improve as a C by strengthening his glove side arm when throwing. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance and takes a soft stride. He gets his hands activated on time and drives through well with his lower half. He takes a level swing with explosive bat speed and good extension, leading to loud contact and line drives. Consistently keeping his hands inside the ball can help Sawyer improve as a hitter. Overall, Sawyer is a solid prospect who has the potential to contribute at the next level.

11/25/2018 - College PREP - Pearland (Houston), TX Sawyer is an athletic C prospect who will graduate in 2021. Behind the plate, Sawyer shows active footwork and is agile moving to block. He sits in an atheltic stance and receives with soft hands. He makes a clean exchange and gains momentum well on his throws to 2B, keeping them on-line to the bag. Raising his arm angle to throw can help Sawyer improve as a C. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance and takes a short stride. He is fluid getting back into his load and drives through well with his lower half. He produces fast bat speed through the zone which leads to loud contact and line drives. Sawyer can improve as a hitter by taking a shorter swing path to the ball. Overall, Sawyer is a solid prospect who has the potential to further progress his skills on the field.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
