Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • OF/RHPPosition Projection

12/27/2010 - UA Recruiting Classic - 2010 Saxton showed similar skills in the OF, and also threw off the mound at the UA Recruiting Classic. Defensively, Saxton has good instincts, he reads the ball off the bat well, and he makes plays. He squares his body to his target and delivers it accurately with some carry to his target. On the mound, Saxton has a long / easy arm action, good separation, and a balanced delivery. He stays under control, he has good leg lift, and he is around the zone with his pitches. At the plate, Saxton has a quiet head, good base, and he stays inside the baseball. He has a decent bat path, some separation, and a line drive swing.

10/03/2010 - College PREP - Boise, ID Saxton is an OF with a thin, athletic body that is well suited for his position and shows projection as he continues to physically mature, filling out. Foot speed is near average as he will benefit by getting on a speed / agility program to improve foot quickness. Feet are active as he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls as he works to get behind balls, playing through with momentum to his target. Arm slot is ' flashing accuracy as he must get on a long toss program to aid in further developing more carry and arm strength. Offensively, Poll has good rhythm as he loads well, allowing his hands to attack the baseball with his hands. Lower half works well, showing balance through his swing. Swing path gets long with barrel getting out around the ball, creating pull type swing. Saxton has abilities with a lot of room to improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
