01/18/2013 - 2013 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Roberts showed command of a three pitch mix. FB topped at 83 and had tail action with some sink. When he stayed on top of his breaking ball, it was a quality pitch with depth. He turned his change up over well, and showed good feel for the pitch. His delivery was balanced and under control, and his arm worked both from the glove and out front. Direction was good and landing was square, allowing him to get a complete finish out front. During his outing, he made a good adjustment to get his eyes on the target sooner. In the outfield, he showed some arm strength along with a quick exchange. Can work to improve his footwork and fielding position. At the plate, he showed a level stroke and made solid line drive contact in BP. Started from an open stance, and tended to remain open when his stride foot landed. Swing was dominated by arms and shoulders, not allowing proper use of the lower half to help transfer weight forward or to create extension through contact. Certainly seems betters suited to the mound, where we have seen him up to 87 in a previous outing.
