06/21/2017 - Baseball Factory Select Training at the College World Series (Ages 12-14) Sean is a coachable player who worked hard on his skills at the Baseball Factory Select Training at the College World Series. Behind the plate, Sean shows active footwork when moving to block balls in the dirt. He sits in an athletic stance and presents a good target to the pitcher. He shows good footwork to throw and keeps his throws accurate to 2B. Sean can improve as a C by quickening his exchange to throw. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes his stride on time to meet the ball. He shows a smooth rhythm and comes through the zone well with his lower half. He takes a direct swing with decent bat speed which leads to consistent contact to all fields. Sean can improve as a hitter by incorporating more load into his swing. On the mound, Sean is very aggressive in the strike zone and coves his position well. He shows a three pitch mis with his fastball topping out at 58mph with late arm side run. Breaking ball sits from 48-51mph with 10-4 break. Changeup tops out at 48mph. Sean can improve as a pitcher by driving more off his back leg. Only a 2022 grad, Sean has the time and potential to further develop his skills.

05/21/2017 - Interactive Video Program - Glen Allen (Richmond), VA Sean is a 3B/C with an athletic build. Defensively at 3B, feet are active as he gets into a low/athletic fielding position. He fields the GB with clean hands and makes accurate throws to his target. Behind the plate, he shows a quiet setup as he tracks and sticks pitches in the zone. He uses his body to block low pitches in the dirt and gets rid of the ball with a clean exchange. With the bat, Sean displays a balanced setup with a smooth load. He swings on a level path through the zone as drives pitches with pop to his pull side. Overall abilities in his game will improve with work on the following.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
