06/12/2013 - Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's Team One Florida Fitzpatrick has long limbs on a slender frame. He showed among the better throwing arms from the OF, and his arm worked well on the mound as well. He reached a solid balance point with his delivery, but tended to get stiff on his front side - didn't allow him to get proper extension through the release, caused him to get rotational instead. Breaking ball suffered the most, he has arm strength and athletic ability to throw low 80s fastball and enough feel to throw a solid change. Has room to jump his stuff with adjustment to delivery. In the OF, he showed athletic actions and got through the ball well. The ball flew out of his hand and carried through the target. At the plate, he showed quick hands to hit and did a good job of letting the ball travel deep into the hitting zone. He showed some rhythm in his prep action, but didn't carry in through the rest of his swing. Rotation of core was late, causing him to get tied up and to use almost all arms to hit with. His future appears to be on the mound, where he has upside based on physical maturity and mechanical improvements.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
