05/17/2009 - College PREP - San Antonio, TX Seth is a young catcher with a small, strong looking body that shows some projection as he continues to physically mature. Foot speed is solid average as indicated by his 7.27 60 time. He utilizes his feet well through the throwing process in working in line with target. Arm strength is slightly above average and he needs to get on a strict long toss program to aid in further developing more arm strength. He flashes solid pop times as indicated by his low 2.02 pop time with a comfort of 2.10. Receiving skills are near above average with above average blocking skills with both showing well for the next level. At the plate, Garcia has average abilities with near above average power. He shows an aggressive approach and displays plus raw power to the pull side. He has some mechanical flaws that need to be corrected for him to reach his full potential. With 2 years to further develop, Seth has potential to be a solid catcher at the collegiate level.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
