02/16/2014 - College PREP - Beaufort, SC Seth is a tall, lean RHP/C that will graduate in 2014. Currently, he projects slightly better on the mound for the next level. Delivery is repeatable as he uses his lower half well and allows his arm action to work long and well to the plate through a high 3/4 arm slot. Fastball shows a range of 73-78 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with depth. He maintains arm speed on his changeup, showing a feel for with arm side run. Off speed stuff show potential as quality pitches as he continues to develop. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches and locates to both sides of the plate. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Behind the plate, foot speed is solid as indicated by his 7.37 60 time. Feet are quick / active as he works in line to his target through a clean transfer / exchange. Pop times show a range of 2.00-2.21 with accuracy, life, and on line carry on his throws, displaying well above average arm strength. Times will continue to drop as he works to get rid of the baseball quicker. Receiving / blocking skills show as quality tools that will play at the next level. At the plate, he shows a balanced setup with balance. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact through a line drive path. Hitting grades will continue to improve as he learns to get his stride foot down sooner to work on time. Power numbers will continue to improve as he learns to load more and use his lower half more efficiently. Seth has potential and will catch the eyes of the collegiate coaches as he continues to improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
