08/11/2010 - Pirate City World Series 2010 - Session 2 Vickers showed similar abilities that we have previously seen in San Antonio, TX. Defensively, actions are smooth with hands and feet working well together through the fielding process. He moves well laterally and shows a quick transfer / exchange as he gets rid of the ball quickly. Offensively, Seth shows a balanced approach with hands working short to long through the baseball. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable with a great attitude.

05/16/2010 - College PREP - San Antonio, TX At 2B, Seth takes good angles to the baseball and knows how to have a quick release when necessary. He showed quality range to his glove side. He'll need to work on maintaining momentum through his fielding position into his throw, as he has a tendency to get tall as he releases the baseball. Would like to see him smooth out his double play turns and feeds. Offensively, he starts with an open set-up and comes back to square position. Whe he gets his body set in a good hitting/power position, he consistently hit lines drives to pullside and middle. His barrel accuracy decreases when he wraps his bat and overuses his shoulders. As a 2011 graduate, he has some time to attack his weaknesses and build on his strengths.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
