Official Scouting Report

  • 4Class Rating
  • SS/RHPPosition Projection

07/27/2023 - Southwest Championships 17U, powered by Baseball Factory's Team One Shane is a solid SS/RHP from the Seattle area. In the field, he has a relaxed feel and plays on the balls of his feet. Footwork is smooth and plays with agility. Gains a low and athletic fielding position and redirects the baseball with clean actions. Arm is solid at 76-8 and can improve with added strength. On the mound, he can pound the zone. He will compete and pitch to contact. His FB sat 67-9 with run. His CB shaped at 10-4 and with FB arm speed, he can create more bite to it. His best pitch is his CH/split. It sat 62 with devastating sink. At the plate, he looks comfortable in the box. Shows loose hands and a controlled swing. Hits off a firm front side with extension through the zone. Has line drive power with bat speed at 77 exit velo. Scouts loved his energy, body language and positivity. Overall, Shane loves the game and will have a bright future.

04/16/2023 - National Showcase - Seattle, WA Shane is a 2025 LHH SS/RHP prospect from Seattle, WA. In the field, he shows off active feet and does a nice job pre-pitch of getting himself in a ready position. He gets in a low fielding position and covers good ground on the infield. His hands are firm and he has a solid backhand. He displays a quick exchange and does a nice job of following his flips on double play balls. He makes accurate throws across the diamond with a quick release. At the plate, he starts in a squared stance and has a short stride to the pitcher. His balance is centered and his lower half does a nice job of finishing through the swing. He makes hard, consistent contact and sprays the ball to all fields. He shows off really impressive hips. On the mound, he throws from a 3/4 arm slot and features a 4-pitch mix. He does a nice job of gathering over the rubber and pivoting off his back foot on delivery. His hips help him finish well and he displays some deception with his offerings. FB has some tail and his CH features FB arm speed. Excited to see more of Shane in the future!

12/27/2022 - Baseball Factory Recruiting Classic Shane is a SS prospect who showcased his skills during the Recruiting Classic. In the field, Shane shows efficient footwork and fields in a low position. Presenting his glove out in front of his body can help Shane field ground balls more efficiently. At the plate, this LHH sets up in a crouched stance and takes a square stride. He is smooth to load and works to barrel up the baseball, producing solid line drives. Shane can create more consistent contact by working through a more level swing path. Overall, Shane is a solid prospect who has the potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

06/15/2021 - All-In Membership - Redmond, WA Shane is a lean, SS/RHP who has a promising future on the diamond. At SS, he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are aggressive as he works around but needs to play through balls more with his body. Glove action is clean and presents well out front. He moves well laterally with range improving as he increases foot quickness. At the plate, he shows an open setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Lower half work well through the swing and shows a feel for the barrel. On the mound, he shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 59 mph. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with sweeping action. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with sink. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. With 4 years to further develop, Shane has potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
