09/16/2012 - College PREP - Santa Barbara, CA In Shane's second workout with Baseball Factory, he showed great improvements with his hitting ability and his general foot speed. His sixty time dropped .25 seconds dropping him to 7.25 second sixty which is solid average for high school. Offensively, the right handed hitting outfielder has a square setup, fast bat speed, a short/level/on-plane swing path, fluid rhythm/timing and an ability to make consistent/square contact. He gets pull happy at times with his hips/front side leaking. Widening his stance, implementing a load, and softening his front foot landing will help with his barrel accuracy and will allow him to utilize the entire field. Defensively, Shane has loose arm action and throws with life accurately from the high 3/4 arm slot. He has sure hands, a clean exchange, fluid/active/effective footwork, agile range, and is able to get himself in an athletic fielding position. He has natural instincts, takes good angles/routes, works behind fly balls with a good 1st step. Overall, with a few months to continue to improve, the athletically built outfielder will shape up to be a good prospect in college.
