01/24/2010 - College PREP - Waipahu, HI Shanztyn is a young, thin, athletic player that play 3B and RHP. He currently projects better at 3B, but still has 3 season of HS ball left to play. In the INF, Shanztyn has very good hands, footwork, and arm action. He is smooth, fluid, fields in rhythm, and is very polished for a young player. Shanztyn shows good range and a sound backhand, and with a better pre-pitch routine, and an earlier glove, defensive abilities can continue to grow. On the mound, Shanztyn has a fluid delivery, live arm, and good balance. He is online to the target, gets good use of his lower 1/2, and shows nice potential with normal growth and maturity. At the plate, Shanztyn has good balance, bat speed, and use of his lower 1/2. He attacks the baseball, has a proper load, and a line drive approach at the plate. Hitting can further improve if Shanztyn can avoid rolling his wrists and by getting more extension after contact.
