07/22/2012 - Cape Cod Select Training & Competition - Session 4 Shawn is a tall, thin, OF who will graduate in 2014. Defensively, Shawn has good pre-pitch action, he is aggressive to the ball, and he makes the routine plays. He has decent range and throws with accuracy to his target. A quicker 1st step, better routes, and added arm strength will help defense improve. At the plate, Shawn has good balance, an athletic setup, and some bat speed. He creates some leverage and makes contact. Better barrel accuracy and more lower 1/2 can help hitting rise.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
