04/25/2010 - College PREP - Cedar Hill, TX Shawn is a 5'11, 145 lb centerfielder with above average speed. For only being a 2011 grad, he runs very well (6.81). He is the centerfield type, utilizing his speed to create great angles on ground balls and cutoff baseballs in the gaps. He knows how to properly get behind flyballs. His arm is average and needs development from a strength / long toss program. Offensively, he showed good barrel accuracy with the ability to hit to all fields. He occasionally loads late, which throws off timing. He needs to use his lower half more efficiently to gain power and bat speed. He understands how to keep his barrel on the right plane of the pitch, which aids in his overall quality barrel accuracy.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
