Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • C/RHPPosition Projection

01/15/2010 - Under Armour Pre-Season All-America - 2010 Simon participated in the UA Preseason All-America as both a C and RHP, and currently projects better behind the dish. He is a tall, lean, athlete who can be a 2 position player at the next level. Behind the plate, Simon closes on the ball well, moves well laterally, and has a quick exchange. Simon gets on top of the baseball and his throws have life and carry on them. Looser actions and centering the ball better on his chest should help defensive grades further improve. On the mound, Simon has a pitchers build, he works quickly, and has a short arm action. His FB touches the mid 80's, and his CB has good, late break. A more firm backside, looser arm action, and landing more closed should help Simon improve on the hill. Offensively, Simon has good balance, bat speed, and his swing is in rhythm. He has life in has barrel and can hit the ball to all fields. A quieter front foot, and stronger wrists could help Simon's offensive numbers get better.

07/25/2009 - Team One North 2009 Weber continues to show as a solid catcher with plus abilities behind and at the plate. He shows projection in his thin, athletic and wiry body as he continues to fill out. He has an upside behind the plate in his defensive abilities. Arm strength is well above average as he displays life, carry, and accuracy on his throws. He will control the running game at the next level as indicated by his low 1.90 pop time. Hands and feet work well together in getting rid of the baseball quickly. At the plate, Simon has bat speed and shows a solid feel for the barrel through a line drive approach. The baseball jumps off his bat when centered displaying strength in his swing. He was 2 for 3 with a SB at the event. Weber has a very promising future in the game of baseball and will get a ton of interest from the collegiate coaches.

06/29/2009 - College PREP - Amelia (Cincinnati), OH Simon is a talented player with potential at the next level and beyond. Behind the plate, Simon has a strong accurate arm and quick release as his 1.93 pop time indicates. His blocking ability and receiving are both above avg and he is a leader on the field. At the plate, Simon has a short powerful swing. He extends through the ball and he crushes the ball to the pull side. There isn't much this kid can't do at the plate. Simon is a stud.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
