Official Scouting Report

  • RHP/1BPosition Projection

12/27/2019 - Baseball Factory West Coast Winter Classic (Ages 12-14) Skyler is a coachable RHP/1B prospect who worked hard on his skills during the West Coast Winter Classic. On the mound, Skyler gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a loose arm and stays inline towards the plate, finishing square to his target. Skyler shows a two pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 71mph with tailing action. Breaking ball sits at 57mph with 11-5 break. Extending through his release more can help Skyler improve as a pitcher. In the field, Skyler fields in a square position and throws from a 3/4 angle, creating good carry through his target. Skyler can improve defensively by fielding the ball with softer hands. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a tall stance and takes a level swing, leading to solid contact to his pull side. Working a smoother load into his swing can help Skyler improve as a hitter. With four more years to develop, Skyler has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

08/11/2019 - Interactive Video Program - Springfield, OR Skyler is an athletic, 2-way player who pitches and plays 1B. On the mound, Skyler has a clean arm circle and he keeps his eyes on target. He separates his hands on time, gets good extension on his pitches, and he throws strikes. At 1st base, Skyler has firm hands, playable footwork, and he keeps the ball in front of his body. He has a strong accurate arm to his target. Offensively, Skyler has a tall stance, he loads well, and stands in with good balance. He swings aggressively, works the ball gap to gap, and he gets good extension through the baseball. Solid abilities can continue to get better with work on the following.

Pitching
1. Arm extension
2. Landing
3. More lower body
Infield

2. Range
3. Footwork

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
